Gardens for Learning and Play

Description :

Discover how to create an outdoor play and learning space centred around imaginative Nature Play.

Participants will learn about the planning, plant selection and landscape creation involved in the development of the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden. They will consider the role children can play in planning and designing outdoor play and learning spaces and how to incorporate links to the Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework and the Victorian Curriculum. Participants will also be encouraged to consider the challenges and perceived dangers of outdoor play, risk assessment and mitigation, how to forge community connections and develop sustainable practices.

Suitable for students of landscape design, education and early childhood studies
