Connecting to Country

Description :

Develop an understanding of First Peoples culture and connection to Country. Students will learn about unique plant usage, tools and caring sustainably for Country across Australia.

 

Students will: 
 

  • Learn about First People’s relationship to Country
  • Discover indigenous plants and fibres, their uses and significance to First Peoples
  • Examine tools and technologies designed and made by First Peoples
  • Go on a discovery walk

  • First Peoples connection to Country
  • Sustainable use of plants for food, tools, shelter and medicine
  • Exploring the diverse living collections representing different environments

  • This program supports the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priority across Country and Place, Culture and People. 
  • It also links to History
